Generosity
Last week we looked at Skihism and Sewa (helping) in the Gurdwara, specifically the langar (free kitchen).
Today Year 5 continued their RE looking at Sharing and Being Generous.
They started by looking at Humanists and how they show generosity and the various ways they can show it:
helping the homeless
being kind
being active
being generous
opening soup kitchens
A Rabbi called Moses Maimonides set out a ladder to show the best way to share and be generous (tzedakah).

Friday 13th October
Kestrel’s have been working very hard on their diary entries this week. We have focussed a lot on writing to express and on the skills needed to accomplish this.

Reading for pleasure – 12th October
Year 5 took the opportunity to choose library books, and spend some time reading for pleasure this afternoon.
Computing – 11th October
As part of our computing learning journey, year 5 have been exploring how websites are ranked by creating our own webpages.
Mental Health Day 10th October 2023
As part of Kestrel’s class assembly this morning, we discussed mental health and the children sorted words and phrases into a venn diagram to show whether they thought they belonged to mental health, physical health or both. This led to some very mature and interesting discussions about the links between physical and mental health.

This week in art, Kestrels have been preparing and planning their paintings ready for next week.
How gravity affects objects.
In science, Kestrels were exploring how gravitational pull affects different objects. We conducted an experiment to see if objects with different masses would hit the ground before those with a lower mass or size.IMG_0345
